Wellshire is a neighborhood in Denver, Colorado, named after the Wellshire Golf Course that covers over a quarter of the area. This neighborhood has winding streets, lush green lawns, an 18-hole golf course, and a quiet atmosphere. Also known as Southern Hills, Wellshire is bordered to the east by Colorado Boulevard, the west by University Boulevard, the north by Yale Way, and the south by Hampden Avenue. Wellshire offers a strong sense of community and a quiet lifestyle.

Most of the homes in this neighborhood are frame and ranch-style brick houses constructed in the 1950s and 1960s. In recent years, some builders have begun buying older houses and replacing them with newer, modern properties.

Neighbors live within walking distance of several restaurants and shopping centers. Residents also enjoy the famous Wellshire Golf Course, which borders the neighborhood.

Residents of Wellshire have access to several shopping options. One of these is the University Hills Plaza which offers restaurants, shopping, and other amenities. Here, you can find a wide range of goods, from footwear to party supplies, furniture, sports equipment, and toys. Another shopping option is Kent Place. This shopping center provides a mix of fantastic restaurants and stores. Whether you are looking for groceries, clothes, or a manicure , you will find whatever you are looking for at Kent Place.

There is no shortage of restaurants at Wellshire. Kent Place has several dining options, including Little Man Ice Cream Shop. This ice cream shop offers unique flavors of homemade ice cream. The University of Denver also has several restaurants that residents of Wellshire can enjoy, including Jelly, Illegal Petes and Jerusalem’s. Wellshire residents can also enjoy many breakfast, lunch, and brunch options at the Saturday Farmers Market at University Hills. Local musicians play live music for all to hear while vendors sell seasonal, quality foods that are good for the stomach and the environment.

Things to Do

Given its suburban feel, there is no shortage of things to do in Wellshire. One attraction that residents of Wellshire love is the immaculate Wellshire Golf Course. This is the only public golf course west of Mississippi with a Donald Ross design. This golf course features an 18-hole golf course, banquet rooms, a junior course, a golfers' pub, and a driving range. This is the place to be if you are looking for a great golfing experience, good food, and excellent service.

The University Hills Farmers Market showcases goods from entrepreneurs, artisans, growers, and hobbyists. This farmers market takes place at the University Hills parking lot and hosts over seventy vendors that sell locally sourced products. You can find a little bit of everything here.

Wellshire also features many events, including the Southern Hills Annual Easter Egg Hunt and the Fourth of July Parade. Children of all ages are welcome for the Southern Hills Annual Easter Egg Hunt, which is hosted by the Southern Hills Church. The Southern Hills Fourth of July Parade features an inflatable obstacle course for the children, a snow cone machine, and fun games.
